McCain the compasionate creationist!

I put in a stretch in rural Arizona a few years ago. It is a place I really don't miss. Two years in that state was more than enough. During the 2004 election their extremely popular senator John McCain was up for re-election. I was among the 20% or so small minority who did not vote for him. At the time I didn't vote for him because while everybody was saying he was a compassionate centrist republican, I just could tell there was something slimy about him. He seemed to be the republican version of Clinton.

Well today the presidential hopeful is showing to all of us how he still lives in the slime from whence his ancestors came. The GOPs #1 guy will be the keynote speaker at a Discovery Institute meeting. You know them, the anti-science "think tank" who want to get our kids to stop thinking. So next time you hear what a rationale centrist republic McCain is, direct them to the above article and point out how Bush and his slimy scientific advisor John Marburger are even better able to accept reality.

Help out your lobbyist

In DC we have somebody working for us, but she needs your loose change. Drop by Secular.org to see the real influence they are starting to have in Washington and see if you think it is worth paypal-ing them a few bucks.

There are tons of Atheist groups around now, but most just talk and talk amongst themselves. This one has the best ability to get your representative's ear up on the hill. It's still 1 against the 100s of religious lobbyists but certainly better than the 0 that it previously was.

Turner should sue Boston

Turner along with the rest of the Boston public should sue the police of the city for wasting time and money on chasing down cartoon characters.

The police are now trying to sue the marketers in order to get rid of the egg on their own face. If there were cartoon depictions of Muhammad used in the guerrilla marketing campaign for Aqua Teen Hunger Force they might actually have a point. Oh but wait, those aren't allowed, so neon Jesus signs have got to be the new culprit. Why not spend a day destroying those, the city would certainly look less tacky at any rate.

Get real, do your job Boston PD, do a little detective work, swallow your pride and admit you screwed up.

Jesus or James Bond?

During the christmas season who is selling more tickets? Well in it's third week 007 made $15 million at the box office this past weekend, and in its opening weekend Jesus, the star of Nativity, only managed to take in $8 million nationwide. More in this article. Better call in Mel Gibstein (sorry Gibson) to throw in some blood and gore to get the take up a bit in time for christmas!

No science like christian Science!

It's that most wonderful time of the year again. And time for me to point you towards some reading material online which shows the true meaning of the season.

The Christian Science Monitor provides a voice of reason in the article To truly honor Christmas, end its status as an official holiday.

A nice break from all the phony War on christmas crap you see everywhere. You do realize of course that here in the US we are actually stuck in a war these days that's worth complaining about. If you hadn't noticed the real war that is going on, I encourage you to make vacation plans to spend December 25th in Baghdad this year.
